Our location in D.C., the world’s information capital, provides unmatched opportunities. We have strong partnerships with local institutions, including the Library of Congress, the Smithsonian Institution, federal agencies like the Department of Justice and the National Institutes of Health, among others. Our students learn and gain practical experience in leading information centers throughout the D.C. metropolitan area.

Students are invited to career networking events by local associations, including the D.C. Special Libraries Association and the Law Librarian Society of D.C. Instructors arrange field visits to area institutions, where students can learn first-hand from those in the profession.

Real World Experience

Practicum opportunities enable students to gain real-world experience in library and information science.
